For those of you who love titles, the Missionary Care Coordinator is mine with AIM…
A good friend of mine once told me that "for a man of substance, style is negotiable." I like that a lot. It has helped me look at the substance, or heart of a man instead of focusing on judging his style. The bible says that man looks on the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. I think we're almost conditioned or predisposed to judging and comparing people by their exterior and their style. We rank others by their experience, connections, degrees and titles. The last 4 years I've been trying to intentionally look at people's "substance" regardless of their style or position. I desire to live in a way that sees and draws out the substance in others. I encourage you to join me!
I am a man of substance. God has put His goodness in me and I'm continually becoming a man with more life and love to give. Angie is a woman of substance and I'm honored to walk alongside of her. Our son has substance oozing out of him and I look forward to teaching him how to crawl, walk and run before he out-strides me. Our family will learn to receive His love in increasing measures and we will learn to freely give the way we receive. This is our life and culture. My position of Missionary Core Coordinator in the structure of AIM is designed to bring Heaven to Earth in a way that flourishes.
How is my position supposed to bring this change about?
Well, I'd suggest that the Kingdom of Heaven is best summed up as "Life." Now I'm not talking about "existence." I'm talking about the kind of abundant life that oozes a fragrance of peace from our pores and deep bellows of joy that are often stored up in children…I'm talking about wonder that makes starry nights vivid and spills into dreams of satisfaction. I'm talking about the rush of adrenaline when every nerve ending shouts wildly with exuberance at the sound of your lover's voice. I'm talking about that contentment found in walking through the rain without a care in the world as if something deep inside was getting refreshed…All of these feel like whispers of the Kingdom and I want to immerse myself in that kind of life!! Don't you? Jesus said that we came to give us life… and life ABUNDANTLY…Do you believe that?
As the Missionary Care Coordinator, it will be my responsibility to supervise a team focused on bringing health and life to the people AIM is sending out to other nations long term. Some of these people (or missionaries if you prefer) will be leaving the the States for a couple years. Others will be planted for a lifetime. We will train, disciple and equip these long-term missionaries with what they need and mobilize them in strategic ways. We are the lifeline these missionaries have to stay plugged into what God is doing here. We are also the lifeline to you so that you can stay plugged into what God is doing out there. The body of Christ is worldwide and our job is to help hold parts together like ligaments.
At the end of the day we are moving to Georgia in the role of Missionary Core Coordinator because we believe that there is a substance called "LIFE" that God wants to flourish in us and through us and we believe that AIM holds the structure for this life to thrive.
