Changing Dimensions

Being a father is really satisfying to my soul!

K. Brave is almost 5 months old now. One of the major shifts he went through was between 3 and 4 months old. This was when he started to see life in 3 dimensions instead of 2. Think about that for a second. He had NO depth perception. It’s crazy to me to think about seeing this world as being flat. However, I still often do because I’m often in need of a dimension change. I believe one of the biggest transitions in life is moving from living by strength to living by Spirit…or from the physical realm to the spiritual realm. Anyway, here are a few thoughts about dimension changes.

Movement.

When Kohen gets fussy, sometimes we rock him or swing him in his car seat. He quickly would give up his crying and decide to sleep instead. This particularly worked when he was seeing 2D because he didn’t know what to focus his eyes on and everything around him became a blur. The only time he would be able to lock in on anything was my eyes and when eye contact was made, nothing else seemed to matter as a huge smile would come across his face. When everything in my life changes around me I feel a bit lost in the blur until I lock eyes on my Papa and then everything else tends to fade away.

Voice.

I can’t count how many times I heard my Father’s voice and knew he was “in something” or “leading me someplace” but didn’t have the depth perception to really tell you what he was in or where he was leading. When I’m looking for Him just with my physical surroundings I can often tell He’s “in something” but it’s really hard to make out exactly what I’m looking at. Often times I really don’t even know the language in which He’s speaking to me but I can follow His presence by walking closer to where I hear Him speaking.

Vision.

Even in 2D, if you’re still enough, you can make out what’s around you. I think there are a lot of leaders who can see what’s in front of them but may not have depth perception with what they see. Even think of some of the prophets in the old testament. I believe that they clearly saw what was in front of them but they probably had a hard time seeing the depth of what they were seeing into the future. Timelines were often a mystery that needed interpretation. Joseph was given the vision to see what God was going to do with him and then it took a lot of years before it came into fruition…same with David, Moses, Jesus and probably you!

Sometimes I feel like I’m still a newborn in the spiritual realm because I’m still shifting dimensions from physical to spiritual. However, I look forward to maturing to a place where my eyes see things the way my Papa does. How about you?
